What is meaning of alcol?

Dear Student
Alcohols are the organic compound having the general formula C_nH_2n+1 O. They have the functional group of OH. Generally they are represented as ROH, where R is an alkyl group. 
Ex.,
Methanol - CH₃OH
Ethanol - CH₃CH₂OH.
