What is meant by initiation of lateral meristem and vascular bundle in pericycle?

Initiation of vascular bundles and lateral meristem is responsible for secondary growth in dicots. During secondary growth lateral meristems forms vascular cambium that forms secondary xylem and secondary phloem. A part of pericycle also forms vascular cambium that give rise to cork cambium.
