what is Nucleophiles and Electrophiles ?

Nucleophile are electron rich species which may be neutral or –ve charged. For example: NH3, CO, Cl¯, NH2¯.

Electrophile are electron deficient species which may be neutral or +ve charged.

For example: AlCl3, FeCl3, NO2+, H+.

A nucleophile is an electron-rich chemical reactant that is attracted to electron-deficient compounds. Examples of nucleophiles are anions such as Cl−, or a compound with a lone pair of electrons such as NH3

An Electrophile is a chemical species that is electron-deficient. It will seek out an electron-rich site in an organic molecule. Examples of electrophiles are: H+, Cl+, Br+, I+, NO2+, CH3+, CH3CO+, C6H5N2+.
