HI,
Public interest groups are those groups which seek to promote the interests of the large section of society. They represent some common or general interests of the people. For example, an organisation fighting for the rights of the poor people, is a public interest group.

Public Interest groups are a group or organisation of certain people who promote the interest and view point of a society as a whole. It mainly aims for the well being of all the members of the society.
For example, a group fighting against bonded labour fights not for itself but for those who are suffering under such bondage.
