what is role of glut4
Dear student,
Glut4 is an insulin sensitive glucose transporters that occurs only in the muscle and adipose tissue. In the absence of insulin glut4 is stored in the intercellular vesicle. After stimulation by insulin the transporters moves to the plasma membrane by the exocytosis . Passive glucose uptake increases due to an increase in the number of transporters in the plasma membrane.
Hope it helps
