The word Stupa means a mound. It contains the remains of Buddha or his followers. It is burial place of Buddhist followers. It is a place for meditation for others who follow Buddhism.

- Relic casket is a small box placed at the centre or heart of the stupa. It contains relics of Buddha or followers, precious stones and coins.
- A layer of mud brick or baked brick was added on top. The stupa is typically in dome shape.
- Pradakshina patha is laid around the stupa with railings and gateways. It meant for devotees to walk around the stupa.
