what is the central idea of the chapter "The interview"?

The chapter  talks about the art of interview. Some people call it an art in practice but others despise it. The lesson is an extract  from an interview of Umberto Eco. The interviewer, Mujund Padmanabhan from "the Hindu" throws light about Umberto Eco who considers himself as an academician first and novelist later.

the first part of the chapter The Interview shows the different views of many eminent personalities towards an interview some feel it a very good medium to get exposure to the public while some others find it an intrution into their personal life.

the second part is the interview taken by mukesh of Umberto Eco a great proffesor and the author of the novel 'the name of the rose' he is very much intested in answering the interviewees questions and shows a prime example of how an interview should be.
