WHAT IS THE CENTRAL THEME OF THE POEM "THE TIGER IN THE ZOO"?

Dear student,

The poem tiger in the zoo” portrays the contrast between a caged tiger and the tiger roaming in a jungle. The poet says that the tiger is supposed to be freely roaming in the jungle. He says that a caged tiger is sad since his freedom is snatched away from him. He paces restlessly in his concrete cell, ignoring the visitors. The only thing the tiger hears is the patrolling cars. He longs to be in the jungle and he looks longingly at the shining stars in the sky. By looking at the stars, the tiger hope to be with nature some day. Just like we humans after working hard in this modern world, look up to nature for comfort.
