What is the Composition of cell membrane

Dear Student,

Cell membrane is composed of a lipid bilayer, with a polar head towards the outer side, and hydrophobic tails towards the inner side. Proteins and carbohydrates are also present in the cell membrane. The fluid mosaic model proposed by J.Singer & G.Nicolson shows that the quasi fluid nature of lipids enabled the lateral movement of proteins within the bilayer.
