What is the difference between a detrivore and a saprophyte?

Dear Student

There are spelling mistakes in the questions. Please find the correct spellings and answers below.

Detritivore: an organism that ingests non-living organic matter. For example: unicellular organisms (bacteria and protozoa) and fungi.

Saprotroph: an organism that lives on or in non-living organic matter, secreting digestive enzymes into it and absorbing the products of digestion. For example: Fungi species predominate among saprotrophs due to their ability to digest lignin in the xylem tissues of plants.
