What is the difference between elements and compunds

Solution:
Element Compound
An element consists of the same kind of atom. Compounds are formed when two or more elements combine chemically in a fixed proportion.
The smallest particle of an element is an atom. The smallest particle of a compound is a molecule.
All the particles of an element have similar properties. The properties of compounds may or may not be similar to their constituents.
For example, oxygen gas (O2) is an element. For example, H2O is a compound.
