What is the difference between pituitary gland and endocrine gland?

Dear Student, These are the glands which secrete their product directly into the blood stream, they are also known as endocrine glands. For example pituitary gland, thyroid etc. Pituitary gland is a gland present just below brain about the size of a pea. It is the gland which is the part of endocrine system. It secretes growth hormone which control development of bones and muscles. Hormones secreted from the pituitary gland help control the following body processes: Breast milk production, functioning of sex organ in males and females, thyroid gland function, conversion of food into energy (metabolism), osmolarity regulation in the body, temperature regulation and blood pressure.
