what is the differense between cancer and tumor?

Tumor is a condition where there is abnormal cellular growth occurs leading to a lump in some part of your body.

Cancer is a degenerative condition where there is uncontrollable cellular growth that spreads rapidly through out the body. Not all tumors are cancerous.

Tumors are of 2 types − benign and malignant.

  • Benign tumors − Remain confined to their original location and do not spread.

  • Malignant tumors− These exhibit metastasis i.e., the cells sloughed from such tumours reach distant sites and wherever they reach, new tumor is formed.

Malignant tumors actually represent cancer. The cells actively divide, grow, and starve the normal cells of vital nutrients.

A tumor is basically an abnormal growth or swelling of something. Tumors can be benign, that is, non-cancerous

and malignant that is,cancerous . benign can turn into malignant if not treated properly. This is the main difference between tumour and a cancer
