What is the importance of magnetism in the working of electrical device in the home?

A large number of household appliances have magnets installed in them. We call them that can be activated and deactivated through electricity.
for eg--> 1. Refrigerator has a magnetic strip in its door. It must seal to lock out the warm air and keep cool air inside. A magnet makes the locking system effective.
2. TV - there is a stream of electrons which forms the image ultimately. The electrons travel until they are affected by electromagnets .The electromagnets tranfer the stream toward the corners, sides and middle of theTV screen.
