What is the main function of plastids in a cell?

Dear Student , 

Plastid is cell  organelle found in plants and algae .  Chloroplasts ( type of plastid) has his own DNA.
Major type of Plastid and there functions are

Chloroplast - they perform photosynthesis in cell.
Chromoplast  - they play role in synthesis and storage of pigments.
Leucoplast - they play role in synthesis of fatty acid.
Amyloplast -  they play role in starch and sugar.
Eiaioplast -  they play role in storage of oils and lipids .
