1.  accepted her seclusion with resignation :

When the author grew up he was given a room of his own and his grandmother was left alone in the room. The grandmother did not protest this rather she sat in her room sitting by her spinning wheel and reciting prayers. She refused to talk to anybody and relaxed by feeding the sparrows.

2. veritable bedlam of chirrupings :
Many birds used to come and feed on the bread in the afternoon. This resulted in a lot of noise and chaos because of the chirpings of the sparrows.
