What is the meaning of the statement "what cannot be measured is not important"

The concept of Development is not only based on material or monetary things , rather on a large number of non material things which money can's buy and are important . Money of course can be measured and is important but there are certain things in life which cannot be measured but are important in life.

a.  These non material things are important to lead a dignified life.
b. Non material aspects like respect, equal treatment, no discrimination are important to lead a quality life.
c. A sense of security , self esteem, are all essential goals of life which are required to fulfil individuals Psychological needs.
d. For example, a good job, with high pay package but no time for family, not a healthy work environment really hamper one's progress and development in life. A job must offer a balance between personal and professional growth.
e. These things cannot be measured but are required to lead a quality peaceful and a gratifying life
