What is the role of hacking and chopping in killing a tree?

Dear student
Hacking or chopping a tree will not be sufficient to kill it. Though it may hurt the tree, it will soon heal and small curled branches will grow out of it. If the growth of these new twigs remains unchecked, the tree will grow to its original size.
