What is the significance of time gap in the passage of action potential from sino atrial node to the ventricle?

Dear Student

The time gap of the passage of action potential from SA node to AV node is significant to provide sufficient time for the relaxation of ventricles. This causes fall in ventricular pressure and closing of semilunar valves that in turn prevents back flow of blood into ventricles.
Therefore, this time gap provides for sufficient time for atrial depolarisation.
