Both Mukesh and Sahib live in abject poverty in thatched mud huts in slums. While Mukesh's bangle-maker family have lived there for generations, Sahib's family had come over from Bangladesh during the 1971 war and he works as a ragpicker. Both of them dream beyond their situations. Mukesh?wants to become a motor mechanic and is willing to walk to the distant garage for that, Sahib works at a tea shop but he would rather go back to rag-picking?because he does not like working under someone else. He watches rich people playing tennis, but that game is out of his reach. All he can do is play at the swing in the park, when the guard would let him.?
