what is turgidity?

The another name for turgor pressure is turgidity. When a cell is kept in a hypotonic solution which has higher water concentration than outside, there is a net movement of water within the cells and the cell swells up, this swelling of cell pushes the plasma membrane against the cell wall, this creates a pressure against the cell wall and this pressure is called turgor pressure or turgidity.
