What is union and intersection set.
Dear student,
The union of two sets A and B is the collection of points which are in A or in B or in both A and B. In symbols,
-
A∪B = {x : x € A or x€ B }
.
For example, if A = {1, 3, 5, 7} and B = {1, 2, 4, 6} then A ∪ B = {1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7}.
The Intersection of two sets A and B is the collection of points which are in both A and B . In symbols,
-
A∩B = {x : x € A and x€ B }
.
For example, if A = {1, 3, 5, 7} and B = {1, 2, 4, 6} then A ∩ B = {1}.
