The reason that there was a substantial decline in poverty in China and southeast Asian countries was the high economic growth in these countries. The high economic growth was due to the fact that they followed an export oriented policy of industrialization. The concentrated on mass manufacturing of many products which were then exported to various other countries. This increased the GDP and the per capita income of these countries which led to the fall of poverty.
