what made helen feel so happy at night?

Helen enjoyed moonlit nights in a canoe even though she could not see the moon climb the sky or the shining trail that it left in the skies. But she knew that it all happened and as she lay back among the pillows and put her hand in the water, she fancied that she could feel the shimmer on her garments. The dark beauty of the vistas opened up to her at night, the darkness of the night was comforting.
