What made the narrator change his attitude towards his teacher?
Franz initially neither liked his teacher nor his French classes. However, when he heard that French would not be taught anymore in their school he became sad. He repented on his action of the bygone days when he did not attend the classes properly. Moreover, on the last day of M. Hamel's class, he listened to him so attentively that he started liking the lesson. The narrator said that he had never paid so much attention to the class before. He also said that his teacher wanted to give his best that day and so was very patient. All this brought about a change in Franz’s attitude towards his teacher also.
