Ans. In the poem the Nightingale is the symbol for a leader, so it displays the quality of a leader who doesn’t have any mutual respect for the fellow-being. Thus the nightingale preys upon the glow-worm because it is his nature to do so. He believes that since the glow-worm is different from him, he can eat the glow-worm.

Nightingale shows quality of mercy as he didn't eat the glow worm and he was an understanding bird as he understood very well what the glow worm said. He was a bird that has a the ability to sing melodious song and when he was hungry he went in search for food.
