what's the difference between genes and genus?
Dear student.
Genes are the basic units of inheritance. The main role of genes is to control a particular character. It is present in all organisms.
Genus is a rank or category used to classify living organisms. It comprises of a group of related species that have more characters in common. Thus, we can say that genus is a combination of closely related species. For example, potato and tomato are two different species but belong to same genus Solanum.
