what's the realtion between ventillation-perfussion coupling with asfixixa ?

Ventilation- Perfusion ratio or V/Q ratio is defined as the balance between the ventilation (V) i.e., bringing O2 into or removing CO2 from the alveoli, and the perfusion (Q) i.e., removing O2 from the alveoli and adding CO2 . This ratio between V/Q actually act as one of the important factor that affects the alveolar levels of O2 and CO2 .
Asfixia is a condition occurs due to insufficient levels of oxygen and carbon dioxide to be exchanged on ventilatory basis. Here the person feel suffocated due to constriction of windpipe. So this will leads to a decrease in V/Q ratio, as the ventilation rate is decreases due to insufficient level of Oxygen.
