What was special in western education given by Raja Ram Mohan Roy in INDIA ?

Raja Ram Mohan Roy pioneered western education in India to patronise science and technology and to modernise the Indian society. He fought against certain traditional evil social practices which were prevalent in India such as the Sati system, child marriage, etc. He believed that bridging the gap between Indian and Western ideas would help in eliminating these social evils and would also help India in gaining freedom from the hands of the British. It is because of these efforts that Raja Ram Mohan Roy made for the welfare of India, he is also known as the ''Father of Modern India.''
