What was the condition of women during British rule in India? Very long answer question

Some of the reform measures which British brought are known to us all such as abolishment of sati, widow remarriage act, setting minimum age of marriage and even some changes in Muslim personal law.

However, the bigger change was that women were being educated now, though largely limited to elite segment. This education of women is the biggest turning point for women emancipation

Further, women participation in satyagrah movement also led to improvement in their situation and an awareness of thier rights.
