what was the history behind the blood stain as given by Mrs. Umney?

there was a blodd strain on the flour of by the fir place. miss umney, the houseipper told that it was the blodd of lady eleanure de canterville who was murdered on the very spot by her husband this blood strain could not be remove.

According to Mrs. Umney, the blood stain, on the floor near the fireplace, was a permanent mark, and no one was able to remove it from many years. She told that it was the blood of lady de Canterville, who was murdered on that spot (where was blood stain) by her husband. Later, Otis family came to know that, the blood stain was not permanent and ghost put it everyday to make people full of fear. Hope this Helps!!!!
