What was the main objective of Green Revolution introduced in 1960? How has it affected our economy?

The main objective of Green Revolution introduced in 1960s was to  increase the  production of food grains in India  by using improved technology and make India self-sufficient in food grains. 

It affected Indian economy in the following ways:

 
(a) It increased production of food grains like wheat and rice. Food grain yields continued to increase throughout the 1980s. In financial year 1980, almost 75 percent of the total cropped area under wheat was sown with HYV seeds. 
 
(b) It has increased income disparities,  brought higher income growth and reduced incidence of poverty to a considerable extent.
