What will be the P/R ratio of a climax community and a pioneer community. What explanation could you offer for the changes seen in P/R ratio of a pioneer community and the climax community

In P:R ratio P refers productivity and R stands for respiration. In climax community, the organisms remain stable and exist in a balance with each other and their environment. This is called steady state where productivity is equal to the respiration. Thus in climax community P:R=1.
In pioneer community the productivity is low and respiration is also relatively low. The system is still growing and accumulation of biomass is taking place. The population has not yet reached to a stable state. Thus, P:R > 1.
