What would happen if the earth stopped rotating on its own axis?

It would then take 365 days for the Sun to move through the sky and return to the same position. Half of the Earth would be baked for half a year, while the other hemisphere was in darkness. It would get very hot on the sunny side, and very cold in the shadowed side.

Ocean life would find it tough to survive. Dolphins would find it difficult to breathe.If the earth stopped rotating, the magnetic field would not be regenerated and limited to the magnetic field generated by its rocks rich in iron that are fossilised. We would no longer be able to see the Northern Lights. We would also no longer be protected from high energy particles like the radioactive rays of the sun.
