Which gas is used in a fire extinguisher? What will happen if it is replaced with oxygen?

Dear student,
Carbon dioxide does not support burning and is used in the fire extinguisher.  
If we replace it by oxygen , it will support burning and cannot be used as a fire extinguisher.
