Which hormone is responsible for the maintenance of glucose level ?

Dear Student,

Mostly two hormones are responsible for the maintanence of the blood Glucose level- Insulin and Glucagon.

Both insulin and glucagon act antagonistic to each other to maintain optimum blood sugar levels. While insulin acts on blood cells in the liver and muscles and signals the conversion of sugar into glycogen and get stored in the liver, glucagon acts on liver cells in particular and signals conversion of glycogen into sugar to be released into the blood.

Regards.

Blood glucose concentration is monitored and controlled by the pancreas. Two of the key hormones involved in regulating this process are insulin, which controls uptake of glucose by different cells, and glucagon, which controls release of glucose from stores within the body.
