gram bhojaka is the village headman 
as he is the most important he owns most of the land
he also hires servants to look after his agricultural fields

Most villages had a headman . He was called Gramabhojaka . His post was hereditary and he also performed the duties of Police man and a legal judge . He collected taxes from the people in the village .
