Who was Nelson Mandela ????? Explain !!

- Born in the Madiba clan, as Rolihlahla Mandela, on 18th July 1918, he became a ward of the royal palace at the age of 12 after his father's death.
- As a child, he was influenced by the tales of bravery, of his ancestors, and was inspired to take part in the freedom struggle of the people of his nation.
- It was at Qunu in the primary school, where he got the name Nelson, from his teacher.
- Nelson Mandela started his Bachelor of Arts degree at the University College of Fort Hare but could not complete it, because of being expelled for participating in student protests.
- He later completed the BA through the University of South Africa and decided that to go back for graduation to Fort Hare in the year 1943.
- He managed to complete a law degree and in the year 1952, and along with his friend Oliver Tambo opened the first Black law firm in South Africa.
- Mandela was imprisoned for life in 1962 in the Robben Island Prison.
- He was finally released in the year 1990
- He was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize in the year 1993.
- In the year 1994, Mandela was elected as the president of South Africa and held the position till 1999
