(i) Mughals were descendants of two great lineages of rulers:
(iii) By 1700 the Mughals ruled most of the Indian subcontinent,but went into decline after the death of emperor Aurangzeb in 1707.

- From their mother’s side they were descendants of Genghis Khan (died 1227).
- From their father’s side they were the successors of Timur (died 1404).
(iii) By 1700 the Mughals ruled most of the Indian subcontinent,but went into decline after the death of emperor Aurangzeb in 1707.
