why are conventional power sources more popular than non-conventional power sources

The conventional sources of energy are more popular than the non-conventional sources for various reasons. They are:

1. Non-conventional sources are difficult to harness, it requires high installation expenditure, so not yet economically viable.

2. These non-conventional sources are far away from the cities and thus are difficult to harness, involves a high transport cost.

3. Non-conventional sources of energy might cause a destruction of natural habitats of many animals and trees like Tidal energy and Wind-energy generation plants.

4. Non-conventional source like Nuclear energy might result in radioactive wastes/

5. Non-viable means of production employed in tapping non-conventional energy results in considerable wastage of energy.
