Why can we use a laboratory thermometer for checking the temperature of a human body whereas we cannot use a clinical thermometer to check the temperature of a loaboratory item

Dear student, A laboratory thermometer cannot be used to measure the temperature of a human body because the range of a laboratory thermometer is high generally from –10°C to 110°C, while as normal body temperature in humans is only 37°C. Also laboratory thermometer does not have a kink, so mercury falls on its own which does not give accurate temperature of the human body. Regards
