because it is the main source of energy in India. Its used in the blast furnaces ,steamships, also used as domestic fuel and as a raw material in many industries. So the demand has increased for coal and as we know that there is sortage of coal so it has become expensive,and It is generally black in color.so it is known as black diamond.

It is a type of material/rock which is produced when the trees get buried under the soil due to soil erosion or man-made efforts etc.Now they are being overlapping with the soil and getting deeper an deeper week by week because it is a very slow process. It take 500 to 600 years under high temperature and presure to form a good type of coal. Now if this type of coal will be present in the soil, this coal after 1000 years under high temperature and high pressure this coal will be transformed to a diamond. Therefore it is called a black diamond.
