Why did anne feel that her mother or margot did not understand her?

Anne felt that neither her mother nor Margot could understand her because they were both quite different from Anne in terms of their personality. She could feel herself drifting away from both her mother and Margot,they would praise her for working hard and the very next moment pick on her. Anne could see a perceptible difference in the way she and her sister were treated. For instance, when Margot broke the vacuum cleaner,she was let off because she was not used to working. But when Anne wanted to rewrite something on mother's shopping list because her handwriting was illegible,her mother wouldn't let her do it. Anne's mother made a fuss about it and the whole family got involved. Anne's feeling of not fitting in with them strengthened over time,she could perceive a distance growing between her and the other women in the family. They could be outwardly sentimental and expressive of their feelings, Anne could only do so in private.
