why did d ghost who had himself been a terror in d canterville chase for d past 300 years ,have 2 escape through d chimney when he made a final attempt 2 frighten d twins ?
The ghost had never seen another ghost before and it was during its second planned appearance that it encountered one. The horrible spectre was motionless like a carved image and monstrous as a madman's dream. Its head was bald and burnished, face round, fat and white and a hideous laughter seemed to have writhed its features into an eternal grin. From the eyes streamed rays of scarlet light, mouth was a wide well of fire and a hideous garment, like the Canterville ghost's, was swathed with its silent snows. On its breast was a placard with strange writing in antique letters, a scroll of shame it seemed, possibly with some record of wild sins, awful calendar of crime and with its right hand, it bore aloft a falchion of gleaming steel. But it later on turned out that this was a trick played by the Otises on the Canterville Ghost and the spectre was just a suit of armour.
