Why did surontiko zamin of randi boating village,a teak forest village, question the state ownership of forest in Java?

Dear Student,
During the 19th century, the Dutch established forest laws in Java and restricted the native villager's access to the forests. In other words, they monopolised the forest lands. Moreover, the Dutch also imposed fines and taxes upon the people of Java. That is why Surontiko Samin questioned the state ownership of forests in Java and opposed this system. Soon this initiative became a widespread social movement known as Saminism movement.
