why did the british develop a strong army
The British wanted to build a strong army. The reasons for the same are as follows:
- Army was needed to conquer the Indian states and bring them under British administration.
- Also, to conquer the foreign lands army was needed.
- To maintain their supremacy in the Indian society by creating a fear in the minds of people.
- When people rebelled in different pockets of the country, army was used to suppress those revolts.
- A strong army provides supremacy to the british empire.
