Why did Tiger King kill 99 tigers, to attain the desire to be immortal or to prove the astrologer's predictions wrong?

All human beings fear death. To prove the prediction wrong and to save his own life, the Tiger King killed so many tigers. Immortality is something man has yearned for since time immemorial. In the case of the Tiger King, it was the basic instinct of survival that led him to kill so many tigers.
