Why didn't The Prince Siddhartha see worldly sufferings before he was 25?

Belonging to the royal family gave Prince Siddhartha many privileges and comforts. He was shielded from all suffering as he led a privileged and luxurious lifestyle. It was only when he was twenty five years old that he encountered suffering while going for a hunting trip as he came across a sick person, an old person and a funeral procession.
