Why do bar magnet always point in north and south direction.

Dear student, A freely suspended magnet always points towards the geographical- north and geographical -south direction because of the magnetism of earth. It is assumed that a huge bar magnet is placed at the center of the earth because of which a free suspended magnet always aligns in the direction of earth 's north and south pole. Regards
