Why do northern states of India have severe smog in January?

When the smoke coming out from factories , vehicles etc . combines with fog . Fog is seen in winters . Smog is formed by combination of fog and smoke . Hence , severe smog is seen in month of january.

Since a huge number of industries are concentrated over the the norther India, there is a lot of production of smoke in the air .... which is one the constituents of smog and moreover the climate of northern India is usually too cold in winter (and January is a winter month) which produces for ... which is one of the constituents of the smog... therefore fog + smog = smog and this the reason for the severe smog in northern region of India in january ..
